Every year, the Ministry of Health distributes a budget to expand the list of subsidized medical services and medications. In 2025, the focus is on innovation and prevention.

1. Diabetes: Adult Coverage

The latest hybrid closed-loop systems for continuous glucose monitoring and insulin delivery are now available for free to all adults with Type 1 Diabetes aged 41 and older.

2. Prevention: RSV Vaccine

For the first time, the RSV vaccine (Beyfortus) is included for all newborns. This is expected to drastically reduce infant hospitalizations due to bronchiolitis during winter months.

3. Oncology Treatments

Fifteen new drugs for targeted therapy and immunotherapy of lung, breast, and melanoma cancers have been added. These treatments, which can cost over $10,000 per course, are now covered by basic insurance for eligible citizens.

4. Mental Health

The budget for community mental health services has been doubled. In 2025, HMOs are required to open more clinics in peripheral areas to reduce wait times.

5. Genetic Screening

The list of free genetic tests for couples planning a pregnancy has been expanded for specific ethnic groups to prevent inherited conditions.
